Pest Control Questions, Answered in Plain English

FAQ

Questions and answers

  1. Who actually does the pest control work?

An independent local provider does the work. Secureanyway Pest Control does not. We are a referral service. You tell us about your problem, and we connect you with a provider in our network. The provider visits your home, gives you a quote, and does the job if you agree. Referral, not repair. Ask the provider about their own license and insurance before you say yes.

  2. What should I ask a pest control provider before I hire them?

Ask before you hire. Start with the basics. Are you licensed in California? Are you insured? What pest do you think I have, and why? What will you use, and is it safe for kids and pets? Will I get the plan and price in writing? A good provider answers in plain words and does not rush you. Vague answers or pressure to sign today are red flags.

  3. How much does an exterminator cost?

It varies by job. As a rough U.S. range, a one-time visit for common pests like ants or roaches often runs from about $100 to $300. Ongoing plans are usually billed monthly or by the quarter. Termites, rodents, and bed bugs often cost more. Home size and how bad the problem is matter too. Always get a written quote before work starts.

  4. What happens after I call or send a request?

Request a callback to check provider availability, or fill out the request form. Tell us what you see and where. We pass your details to a provider in our network. Many providers can respond quickly, but timing varies. The provider then contacts you to set up a visit and talk about price. You decide what to do next.

  5. Can I handle ants or roaches on my own?

Sometimes. Store-bought baits and traps can help with a small, new problem. Seal food, fix leaks, and wipe up crumbs. But DIY often fails when pests keep coming back, or you see them in many rooms. Products can also be unsafe if used the wrong way. If the problem lasts more than a couple of weeks, ask a provider.

  6. How do I know if I have termites?

Termites are small insects that eat wood. Look for mud tubes on walls or foundations, soft or hollow-sounding wood, and tiny piles that look like sawdust. Winged insects near windows can also be a sign. These clues are easy to miss in stucco homes and raised foundations. A provider can inspect the house and tell you what they find.

  7. Do you offer wildlife removal and bed bug treatment?

Providers in our network may handle a range of problems, including mice, rats, wildlife removal, and bed bug treatment. Not every provider does every service. Tell us what you are seeing when you reach out. We will point you toward a provider who handles that type of problem. Ask the provider what methods they use.

  8. Will my insurance pay for pest damage?

It depends on your policy. Some policies may cover sudden damage, but many do not cover slow damage like termites. Check your policy or ask your insurance company. Providers can often help document damage for a claim, such as with notes and photos. Ask for that in writing. Do not assume anything is covered until your insurer confirms it.
